mark-munday-correct-size-2Whitstable town manager Mark Munday speaking to WTFC website today: “After the awful weather these last few weeks we are all looking foreword to getting back to playing some football, you can do all the running and training in the world bur there is no substitute for match fitness. This game against Cray is perfect timing for us as it will give us a really competitive run out before we are back in league action at the KRBS Belmont on Saturday.

But one thing we won’t be doing is treating the game like a training session, I want to win every game we play, be it cup, league or a five-a-side kick about. Just because our focus is on the league and finishing as high up the table as we can, does not meant we will not treat Cray with the utmost respect. They have not had the best of starts to their season so they will be looking to role us over and kick-start their season but we have a toughness about the side now and they have a real hunger for the ball which me as the manager is good to see.

We played a 90-minute game behind closed doors at an all-weather pitch on Saturday in preparation for the game at Cray so we will up to speed from the kick off. Another good thing about the timing of the game is we have three key players who are all on a one-match ban, which they have been sitting on since the second of January. Tuesday nights game means they are all available for Saturday which is why we are looking forward to the cup match that will set us up nicely for Saturday; we will gave a full squad when we host Walton & Hersham
